Prefect - Handturned Jatoba, Mahogany and Maple

Competition Ready

The Prefect is our newest shape. Designed for modern competitive play, it "fits in the box", so you can use it at any major contest. Hand-turned in our Vancouver workshop, this is a luxury kendama without rival.

Jatoba is used for the sarado, it is a species native to Central and South America. It is quite hard and much more dense than mahogany, giving this ken some epic lunar balance!
Mahogany is used for the spike, also native to equatorial nations in the Americas, it is a lower density species chosen to give this ken an optimal lunar balance.
Maple is used for the big cup an bottom cup. This is a domestic species, well-loved for its great feel and durability, it was included in the design to increase playability.
White ash has been used for the tama. It is another domestic species that is a favourite of many players, the unfinished porous grain provides great grip for those tricky balance tricks.
